WHY TRAIN YOUR TEAM?

The Benefits

An interesting consequence of the financial downturn was the removal or reductions of training plan from the budget, yet the biggest impact on the bottom-line is the team’s ability to do the job well. A focused contented team will reduce recruitment costs, produce happier customers through great knowledge and skills, and will also attract staff that are ambitious and keen to achieve in this industry.

Success in retail means quality work, greater customer care at a good price; in short value for money. This means keeping up with technology and staying ahead of the competition to achieve this you need staff who are inspired, know the job and understand the priorities of the business, adding value to your brand and making it easier to compete in the market place. In the last year businesses investing as little as an extra £50 a month on training increased their profits almost twice as fast as those that failed to raise their training budget. At Ethos Coaching our message is very simple and applies to any business; No matter the size or sector developing your team will reward your business in the following ways;

It will increase the team’s morale;

Training has been shown to increase staff retention, motivation, and loyalty from both the team and customers. A customer who feels they have been understood and has great knowledge will develop a trusting relationship with that company, which will also result in higher sales and will create customers that aren’t only loyal but will “rave” about your business to others. High morale will produce a team that wants to be at work, and will take fewer sick days this is a consequence of feeling more empowered and valued by their employer and being more satisfied in their work. Research by the BFI has shown that training your teams will reduce the probability of resignations having a direct impact on your recruitment costs and client retention.

Gives your salon the competitive edge

In order to stay ahead of the competition, businesses must continue to improve and update their work practices, it is the responsibility of the business to ensure that the team keep up and can cope with the changing market. It is important that training is high on the agenda and is part of the allocated yearly budget. Training your employees in all areas will increase the level of your customer’s experience, from answering the phone efficiently through customer care to sales. .All of which is part of the client journey and will make the difference to the impression you are giving the client.

Improves the customers experience

When your teams have the skills to do the best job they can your customers experience will increase. The main reason a client doesn’t make a return visit to the business is because they haven’t received good service so training your team in customer service is vital, 85% of client complaints are caused due to poor communication. Trained staff are more inclined to have the confidence and pride in their work to give a more in-depth consultations giving increased value to the service. In fact a well trained workforce will have a measurable impact on performance and profitability of the business. Ethos Coaching has encouraged and supported businesses in developing and delivering training plans which focus on improving the team’s performance and productivity through one to one coaching towards the individual goals and team training sessions helping them understand their role in the company’s success. In order to succeed in today’s competitive environment, companies must create a workplace climate that encourages employees to continue to learn and grow.

Training Managers

Many businesses promote their staff into management roles simple because they have been in the business the longest and you trust them, this does not always mean they they have the skills to your business.Front-line managers can have the single largest impact on your organisation. A good (or bad) manager affects employee performance and satisfaction, productivity, efficiency, turnover, and the overall health of any organisation. If your company is in business to make a profit, it goes without saying that investing in training is a smart move.

Good management doesn’t just happen. Managers don’t inherently know how to handle delicate personnel issues or even how to effectively motivate employees. Additionally, capable and effective managers have to be trained to stay current on the latest updates in employment laws, workplace safety requirements and a host of other trends.

But, let’s face it, training takes time, energy, resources and money, which is why most organisations find it hard to invest in it. For example, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that employers with fewer than 100 employees provided only 0.8 hour – that’s only 12 minutes of manager training per six month period. And organizations with 100-500 employees provided only 0.9 hour (6 minutes) of training for the same time span.

Further, a survey by Progressive Business Publications shows that only 52% of companies trained their managers once a year or less. This lack of training is reflected in the Conference Board Report which found that less than 1/3 of all supervisors or managers were perceived to be strong leaders – which means that over 2/3 of them are perceived as being weak leaders. And consequently having only one-in-three effective managers will lose the company profits.The same report found that 2/3 of employees are not motivated to drive their employer’s business goals, leaving a quarter who are simply showing up to collect their salary. Obviously, a lack of managerial leadership has a direct correlation to high turnover of staff and low productivity.

THE CHALLENGES OF CHANGE

Today we make more decisions in a single year than your grandparents made in their lifetime. The ability to deal with change effectively is a crictical determinant of your mental health, happiness, personal performance and your effectiveness in life.
Becoming a Master of change takes persistance and alot of self belief. Below are seven points to help you become a master of change.

1. They are creators of circumstance rather than creatures of circumstance.

7. Take control by taking charge of the situation, assert yourself and only when you are sure that making change will create a more positive situation.

THE PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

One question I am often asked is what brought you to coaching?

Most of my working life has been spent as a Hairdresser in various management posts but a common
thread throughout was working with, and developing, people from young trainees
to more experienced team members.

I have always been a great believer in the power of coaching and over the years have seen how it can
help people unleash their potential and surprise themselves and others with
their achievements!

In 2007 I retrained as a coach and saw that here was an opportunity to develop my coaching skills
and turn my passion into a new career.

Another question I am often asked, is why did I decide to become a coach?

The answer is very simple, it is my belief that everyone deserves to feel as happy, confident and fulfilled as possible. Life coaching

helps people sort through difficult issues and move forward in positive ways. I work with clients in private and in person. By talking though issues we make significant progress towards clarity and a strategy for change. Coaching is not
therapy, neither is it advice in disguise. It simply gives you the tools to get you where you want to be.

I work with clients that require help in the following areas;

  • Personal development
  • Work-life balance
  • Stress management
  • Time management
  • Self-awareness and self-acceptance
  • Family issues
  • Retirement
  • Relationships
  • Decision-making

If you feel that coaching could be something you would like to try, or if you are having trouble figuring out why life just isn’t going quite the way you want, then get in touch and we can work together to help you start to make changes to improve your life, and start living the life you deserve!

ONE HOUR £55 (£75/90 minutes).
